    Under Quantum Computer Attack: Is Rainbow a Replacement of RSA and Elliptic Curves on Hardware?

    Among cryptographic systems, multivariate signature is one of the most popular candidates since it has the potential to resist quantum computer attacks. Rainbow belongs to the multivariate signature, which can be viewed as a multilayer unbalanced Oil-Vinegar system. In this paper, we present techniques to exploit Rainbow signature on hardware meeting the requirements of efficient high-performance applications. We propose a general architecture for efficient hardware implementations of Rainbow and enhance our design in three directions. First, we present a fast inversion based on binary trees. Second, we present an efficient multiplication based on compact construction in composite fields. Third, we present a parallel solving system of linear equations based on Gauss-Jordan elimination. Via further other minor optimizations and by integrating the major improvement above, we implement our design in composite fields on standard cell CMOS Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). The experimental results show that our implementation takes 4.9 us and 242 clock cycles to generate a Rainbow signature with the frequency of 50 MHz. Comparison results show that our design is more efficient than the RSA and ECC implementations

    Probabilistic Human Mobility Model in Indoor Environment

    Understanding human mobility is important for the development of intelligent mobile service robots as it can provide prior knowledge and predictions of human distribution for robot-assisted activities. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic method to model human motion behaviors which is determined by both internal and external factors in an indoor environment. While the internal factors are represented by the individual preferences, aims and interests, the external factors are indicated by the stimulation of the environment. We model the randomness of human macro-level movement, e.g., the probability of visiting a specific place and staying time, under the Bayesian framework, considering the influence of both internal and external variables. We use two case studies in a shopping mall and in a college student dorm building to show the effectiveness of our proposed probabilistic human mobility model.     A Versatile Multi-Input Multiplier over Finite Fields

    Multiplication of three elements over finite fields is used extensively in multivariate public key cryptography and solving system of linear equations over finite fields. This contribution shows the enhancements of multiplication of three elements over finite fields by using specific architecture. We firstly propose a versatile multi-input multiplier over finite fields. The parameters of this multiplier can be changed according to the requirement of the users which makes it reusable in different applications. Our evaluation of this multiplier gives optimum choices for multiplication of three elements over finite fields. Implemented results show that we takes 22.06222.062 ns and 16.35416.354 ns to execute each multiplication of three elements over GF((24)2)GF((2^4)^2) based on table look-up and polynomial basis on a FPGA respectively. Experimental results and mathematical proofs clearly demonstrate the improvement of the proposed versatile multiplier over finite fields

    Synergistic effect of black tea polyphenol, theaflavin-3,3\u27-digallate with cisplatin against cisplatin resistant human ovarian cancer cells

    Theaflavin-3, 3’-digallate (TF3) is a phenolic compound extracted from black tea. We previously demonstrated that TF3 selectively inhibited ovarian cancer cells. Ovarian cancer has high death rate because of acquired cisplatin resistance. We aimed to investigate the synergistic effect of TF3 and cisplatin (CDDP) against cisplatin resistant ovarian cancer cells. In the present study, combination treatment with TF3 and CDDP showed a synergistic cytotoxic effect in A2780/CP70 and OVCAR3 cells. Combination treatment showed a synergistic pro-apoptotic effect and synergistically induced G1/S phase cell cycle arrest. Synergistic apoptosis was accompanied by regulating protein expression of cleaved caspase 3/7, cytochrome c, Bax and Bcl-2. Combination treatment induced G1/S phase cell cycle arrest via regulating protein expression of cyclin A2, cyclin D1, cyclin E1 and CDK2/4. Combination treatment could synergistically down-regulate Akt phosphorylation in both cell lines. TF3 may be used as an adjuvant for the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer
